Higher Heights PAC Endorses Amanda Edwards for U.S. Congress (TX-18), Emphasizing Her Leadership and Readiness to Serve in Congress

BROOKLYN (June 25, 2025) — Higher Heights for America PAC, the only political action committee exclusively dedicated to electing Black women to public office, proudly announces its endorsement of Amanda Edwards for the United States Congress representing Texas’ 18th Congressional District.

“Amanda Edwards is built for this moment,” said Glynda C. Carr, President and CEO of Higher Heights PAC. “She has always stepped up when her community needed her most, and now is the time for her to bring that commitment and skill to Congress. Amanda is a rising star with the experience, passion, and focus to deliver results and inspire the next generation of Black women leaders.”

Amanda Edwards is a native Houstonian and former At-Large City Council Member who has dedicated her career to strengthening neighborhoods and creating opportunities. After earning her bachelor’s degree from Emory University and her law degree from Harvard Law School, she served as a judicial law clerk for Federal District Court Judge Ivan Lemelle in New Orleans and founded Project NOW: The New Orleans Writing Project, helping young people use their voices to lift their communities.

Back in Houston, Amanda built a respected career as a municipal finance attorney, helping deliver vital public projects and supporting local nonprofits. On City Council, she led initiatives to expand infrastructure, grow Houston’s innovation sector, and ensure every neighborhood can thrive. Her hands-on, solution-oriented leadership has earned her the trust and support of residents across the district.
