With a deep personal commitment to public service and a history of breaking barriers, Mayor Tishaura Jones has dedicated her career to building a more equitable, prosperous future for St. Louis. Her journey in leadership began in 2002 when she was appointed as Democratic Committeewoman of the 8th Ward in St. Louis. She went on to make history as the first Black woman to serve as Assistant Minority Floor Leader in the Missouri House of Representatives and later as the first Black woman elected to serve as Treasurer of St. Louis (2013-2021).

A proven leader with a results-driven record, Mayor Jones used her tenure as Treasurer to launch the Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE), ensuring that St. Louis families had the tools they needed to build generational wealth. Through OFE’s College Kids Program, over 18,000 public school students have started saving for their futures, with more than $1.5 million saved.

Since being elected Mayor in 2021, Jones has prioritized modernizing city services, making government more transparent, and expanding opportunities for working families. With a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Hampton University and a Master’s in Health Administration from Saint Louis University, she combines financial expertise with a passion for public service. A graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, she has also worked in investment banking and as an adjunct professor at Harris-Stowe State University.

Mayor Jones is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has been recognized with numerous awards for her commitment to social justice and community empowerment. Above all, she is a proud mother, raising her son Aden with the same values of service and integrity that define her leadership.
