BROOKLYN (March 26, 2025) – Higher Heights for America, a national organization dedicated to expanding Black women’s political participation and elected representation, has officially announced its endorsement of Jasmine Harris in her bid for election as the Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska.
Jasmine Harris currently serves as the Director of Public Policy and Advocacy at RISE, where she has worked to increase policy advocacy engagement and awareness about the impacts of unjust criminal legal practices. Through her advocacy efforts, Nebraska passed major criminal justice reform laws in 2023, as well as a voting rights restoration law in 2024 for those who have completed their felony sentences. Her leadership has been recognized with awards such as the Urban League African American Leadership Award in Government (2024) and the Omaha NAACP Freedom Fighter Award (2017).
“Omaha needs a visionary leader to take our communities forward, and Jasmine Harris is precisely the leader for this moment,” said Eboni Taylor, Vice President of Programs at Higher Heights for America. “She has a track record of delivering for the people of Omaha and all over Nebraska, opening the doors of opportunity to those who have historically been shut out by an unjust criminal legal system. We are proud to endorse her to take that leadership into the Mayor’s office so that she can open even more doors.”
