Alicia L. Hyndman, prior to being elected to the State Legislature, worked closely with community stakeholders as an active member of Community Boards. Additionally, she served on the NYC Department of Education’s Community District Education Council 29 (CEC 29) for 10 years, the last four years as president. Through collaborative leadership, Hyndman was able to bring $30 million in capital funding for technology upgrades and facility improvements to enhance the quality of education for students. Hyndman has worked for many years in education and higher learning, including director of Minority Affairs at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT and Counselor for the Brooklyn College Talent Search Program. Hyndman holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Framingham State College, Massachusetts.
