Texas House of Representatives District 131

Alma Allen is a retired school administrator with Houston School District, where she worked from 1961-2000. Prior to her election to the Texas House of Representatives in 2019, Allen served on the State Board of Education for 10 years. She has received numerous awards and recognition for her lengthy service, including the Texas Freedom Network “Walking the Walk Award” from former Texas Governor Ann Richards. Allen holds degrees from Texas Southern University and a doctorate of education from the University of Houston.
