Kandie Smith made history when she became the first Black Female Mayor of the City of Greenville, N.C. During her tenure, she successfully lobbied Raleigh and Washington, D.C. to secure more than $10 million in grants and a zero percent interest loan to fund major infrastructure projects in the city. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University where she majored in Sociology and minored in Communications.
