Illinois House of Representatives to represent District 9

Lakesia Collins has spent her adult life caring for and fighting for others. While working in nursing homes that were understaffed, she saw the impact of low-level staffing and heavy workloads on workers and patients, which led her to become a leader in her union, SEIU Healthcare Illinois. Collins helped pass a groundbreaking nursing home reform bill in 2010 that raised standards and became a model for the rest of the country. She also worked to help pass the Fair Tax legislation and the $15 minimum wage.
