Mathylde Frontus’ passion for workers’ rights, jobs, mental health services, and a more transparent, equitable government led her into politics. Securing funding for seniors at the Bay Ridge Center, the first pre-apprenticeship program in Coney Island offered by Pathways to Apprenticeship (P2A), and upgrades at the Fort Hamilton and Dyker Heights Public Libraries are among her accomplishments. From 2004-2016, she served as the founder and executive director of Urban Neighborhood Services, which offered a range of services for individuals, youths and families. Frontus earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from New York University, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from the Columbia University School of Social Work.
