California State Assembly District 54

Sydney Kamlager was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She earned a master’s degree in arts management and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. Kamlager’s professional experience includes working at the Los Angeles Festival and in a variety of fields, including nonprofit, entertainment, education, and government. Before joining the state Assembly, Kamlager was president of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees and district director to state Senator Holly J. Mitchell (D)-Los Angeles.
