Higher Heights for America was proud to endorse Alexsis Rodgers for Mayor of Richmond, Virginia. Alexsis has a track record of bringing people together to advance policies for the most vulnerable community members.
Alexsis knows how to work inside and outside of the system: She has served as Policy Director for the Office of the Lt. Governor, where she shaped the legislative agenda on reproductive justice, behavioral health, and early childhood education. She has led the way in making Virginia the first Southern state to pass labor protections for domestic workers. As Director of Communications at the VA League of Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood Advocates of VA, she played a key role in achieving Medicaid expansion and increasing birth control access.
If elected, Alexsis will work to keep Richmond safe by reducing the scale and scope of policing and reinvesting in community resources. She will fight to fully fund schools and address inequities in public education, and she will prioritize access to clean, safe and affordable housing, as well as focus on public health, quality of life and environmental justice in every Richmond neighborhood.
The time is now to elect more Black women to the decision-making tables to represent us. Higher Heights for America strongly encouraged its members to support Alexsis’ campaign with their time, talent and resources.
