Higher Heights for America PAC is proud to endorse Karen Carter Peterson for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Karen is a member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing the 5th District since 2010. Karen is the former Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party, the first woman to serve in this role. Prior to serving in the State Senate, Karen served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for 10 years where she established herself as a powerful, worthy asset to the legislature. In 2017, Karen was elected for a four-year term as the Vice Chair of Civic Engagement and Voter Participation at the DNC, focused on protecting voting rights and expanding voter participation.
Karen has worked alongside allies in campaigns for change – both locally and nationally. Karen has used her voice to return power to those who need it the most – working families struggling with an unfair economic system and African American and Latinx citizens facing challenges and biases. She has she fought for LGBTQ+ equality and women’s right to choose. She has worked for historic criminal justice reforms and expanded Medicaid for working Louisianans.
Karen is a graduate of Howard University School of Business and earned a J.D. from the Tulane University Law School.
If elected, Karen will continue to fight for economic opportunity and equality for all, criminal justice reform, the protection of voting rights, LGBTQ+ equality and the protect women’s right to choose.
