Higher Heights for America was proud to endorse Tishaura O. Jones in her successful bid for Mayor of the City of St. Louis Missouri.

Tishaura is a history-maker on a mission.  During her election, she was in her third term as Treasurer of St. Louis, the first African American woman to serve in this role.  She served two terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, where she was the first African American woman to hold the position of Assistant Minority Floor Leader.

Since 2012, Tishaura has helped the City of St. Louis earn and save over $30 million and counting. She launched the Office of Financial Empowerment to help St. Louisans make better financial choices, including helping over 16,000 public school students start saving through educational savings accounts. Her dedication to public service has earned her numerous accolades including awards from the St. Louis Coalition for Human Rights and the Lupus Foundation of America.

Tishaura has a Bachelor’s degree from Hampton University, a Master’s degree from the Saint Louis University School of Public Health and is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.  Tishaura is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

As Mayor, Tishaura will draw from her own lived experiences as a single mother, her understanding of the struggles of St. Louis’ everyday families, and the needs of at-risk neighbors. She will address racial equity, the root causes of crime and poverty and be an effective leader for COVID-19 recovery.
