BROOKLYN (May 11, 2022) – Today, Higher Heights for America –- the only organization exclusively dedicated to electing more progressive Black women – announced its endorsement of lawyer, entrepreneur and author, Stacey Abrams for Governor of Georgia. If elected, Abrams would replace Republican Brian Kemp and serve as the first Black woman Governor of Georgia.
Her work as the Democratic Leader in the Georgia House of Representatives and advocacy to protect the right to vote makes Abrams a supremely qualified candidate who will represent the diverse range of backgrounds and experiences that has made Georgia the mecca of culture, business, and history that it is today.
“Higher Heights is overjoyed to announce our official endorsement of voting rights icon Stacey Abrams as the next Governor of the great state of Georgia,” said Glynda Carr, President and CEO of Higher Heights for America. “Georgia is home to the largest majority-Black communities in our country – and our elected leaders should reflect our communities. At a critical moment in the fight to safeguard our democracy and civil rights for all, we have the utmost confidence in Stacey’s ability to represent the people of Georgia and set us on the path to a brighter future. Today is a joyous day for our organization, and we cannot wait to celebrate what will be a historic Election Day.”
