The nation’s only political action committee dedicated to electing Black women celebrates the advancement of seven endorsed candidates in primary elections thus far
BROOKLYN (May 25, 2022) – In response to last night’s primary elections in Georgia and Texas, Glynda Carr, President and CEO of Higher Heights for America PAC, released the following statement celebrating the historic primary victories for the following candidates:
“I cannot begin to describe the excitement of watching modern-day voting rights icon Stacey Abrams advance on her path to becoming the country’s first Black female governor. It is an equally proud moment to see Lucy McBath and Nikema Williams move toward their re-election to the U.S House of Representatives in Georgia. Now more than ever, we need the voices of Black women to be represented at every level of government. As we continue to face unprecedented attacks on our voting and reproductive rights while experiencing trauma due to a lack of action on common-sense gun reform, Black women provide the critical perspective necessary to champion the real progress that our voters expect.”
“Electing Black women to office is about showing every young girl and woman across the country that someone is looking out for them, and providing inspiration for the next generation of trailblazers. Higher Heights for America will continue to display our commitment to ensuring that every Black woman has a seat at the table.”
