BROOKLYN  Higher Heights for America PAC, the only political action committee exclusively dedicated to electing more progressive Black women at all levels, is proud to endorse Cheri Beasley for U.S. Senate.

Cheri Beasley has devoted her life to public service and to the people of North Carolina.

From a young age, Beasley was taught that no door should be closed to her and that with her hard work and faith, she could accomplish anything.

In 2008, Beasley was elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, winning by a  commanding 15-point margin of victory – her first of two successful statewide elections.  In 2014, Beasley was elected Associate Justice of the state Supreme Court, overcoming a  Republican wave that flipped Democratic-held seats in North Carolina and states across the country.

In 2019, Beasley made history by becoming the first African American woman to serve as  Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

“Higher Heights enthusiastically supports Cheri Beasley in her bid to be the first Black woman Senator to represent the great state of North Carolina.  We know she is a necessary voice in the U.S. Senate,” said Glynda C. Carr, President of Higher Heights for America PAC. “We currently have zero Black women in the Senate and Cheri is in a position to ensure that all Black women will have a voice in this body. She has been a champion of healthcare for all, education, as well as the ability to find work that supports a family and retire with dignity. It is clear that she will not only fight for North Carolina, but she will also fight for all of us when she is elected to office.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Higher Heights, whose critical work elevates the leadership of African American women across this nation,” said Beasley. “I’ve been committed to serving North Carolina throughout my career, and in the U.S. Senate, I will fight for a stronger future where all North Carolinians have access to jobs that can support a family, affordable health care, and strong public schools. Throughout my service as a judge, I spent every day waking up and thinking about how I can best serve the people of North Carolina. In the U.S. Senate, I will fight for our state every day. With the support of groups like Higher Heights, I know we can build a better future for our state and our nation.”

Higher Heights’ President Glynda C. Carr is available for interviews to discuss this special election.
